Driving Standard Driver Training Services

Learning to drive is an essential life skill for all of us but for those with disabilities it is even more important to be able to take advantage of the freedom and independence that comes with passing the driving test.

Our Chief Instructor Bill Harkess has conducted and assessed many DVSA mobility Driving Tests. He has the experience and knowledge of teaching those with disability requirements to pass a driving test. Bill will provide training that will get you driving with confidence.

To assist with your driver training there maybe financial support where you can receive a motobility allowance which will provide you with a grant towards the cost of your driving lessons.

There are different components to the Disability Living Allowance (DLA) scheme and the payments from this can be put towards anything that you think will be of benefit to you. Not only can you pay towards the cost of your lessons but you can also start to learn and sit your test at the age of 16 if you are on the higher rate component of the DLA. If you need to know more about the DLA you can ask your GP or check the direct gov website.

Once you have sat and passed your practical exam you may be able to claim Motobility which can cover the cost of a car and your insurance. You may also be eligible for a ‘Blue Badge’ which gives you the right to park for free and at places that suit you. These are two vital resources for disabled people and you should make sure you claim them if they apply to you.
